How we look after your personal information
Last updated: 24 October 2026
Trust is the foundation of every relationship between a client and their lawyer. That trust begins the moment you contact us, which is why we take the protection of your personal information as seriously as the confidentiality of the matters we handle.
This policy explains, in plain language, what information the Chamber collects through this website, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, who we may share it with and the choices you have. Please read it together with our Terms & Conditions.
At a glance
- We only collect what you choose to share with us, plus basic technical data needed to run the site.
- Your details are used to respond to you and, if you instruct us, to act on your matter.
- We never sell your information or use it for advertising.
- The site uses only the cookies it needs to work, plus one that remembers your cookie choice.
- You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time.
Confidentiality is not just a policy for us.
It is a professional duty we owe to every person who contacts the Chamber.

01 Who we are
This website is operated by the chamber of Kazi Akhtar Hosain, Advocates & Legal Consultants (“the Chamber”, “we”, “us” or “our”). The Chamber is responsible for the personal information collected through this website and decides how and why it is used.
Our advocates are bound by the rules of professional conduct of the Bangladesh Bar Council, including strict duties of confidentiality towards clients and prospective clients.
02 Scope of this policy
This policy applies to personal information we collect when you visit this website, use our consultation form, or contact us by email or telephone after finding us online.
If you become a client, the way we handle information about your matter will also be governed by the engagement terms we agree with you in writing. Where those terms differ from this policy, the engagement terms take priority for that matter.
03 Information we collect
Information you give us. When you complete the consultation form we ask for your name, telephone number, email address, the area of law your enquiry relates to and a short description of how we can help. You decide how much to tell us; please share only what is needed for an initial response.
Correspondence. If you write to us or call us, we keep a record of that communication and any documents you choose to send.
Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records limited technical data when pages are requested, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages viewed and the date and time of the visit. This is used to keep the site secure and working properly.
Sensitive information. Legal matters sometimes involve sensitive details, such as health, family circumstances or allegations of an offence. Please do not include such details in the website form. If they are needed, we will ask for them through a more secure channel once we have agreed to act for you.
04 How we use your information
We use personal information only for clear and legitimate purposes, namely to:
- respond to your enquiry and arrange a consultation;
- carry out conflict-of-interest checks before agreeing to act, as our professional rules require;
- provide legal advice and representation once you have instructed us;
- keep records required by law and by our professional obligations;
- protect the website, our systems and our clients against misuse, fraud and security threats; and
- improve how the website works for visitors.
We will not use your information for marketing without your clear permission, and we do not use automated decision-making or profiling.
05 Why we are allowed to use it
We handle your information on one or more of the following bases: because you have asked us to respond to you or to take steps before entering into an engagement; because it is necessary to provide the services you have instructed us to perform; because the law or our professional rules require it; or because we have a legitimate interest in running a secure and well-managed practice, balanced against your rights.
Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did with your information before you withdrew it.
06 Confidentiality and legal privilege
Everything you tell the Chamber in connection with seeking legal advice is treated in confidence. Access to enquiries is restricted to the advocates and staff who need it to respond to you, all of whom are bound by duties of confidentiality.
Please note that information sent through a website or by ordinary email before we agree to act may not always enjoy the same protection as communications with an engaged client. For urgent or highly sensitive matters, please call the Chamber first.
07 Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device. We keep their use to a minimum:
- Strictly necessary cookies make the site work, for example a cookie that remembers the choice you made in our cookie banner and, for Chamber staff only, the cookies used to sign in to the website administration area.
- No advertising or tracking cookies. We do not use advertising networks, social-media tracking pixels or behavioural profiling.
Our pages load web fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google for that purpose. You can manage or withdraw cookie consent at any time through the cookie banner, and most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings.
08 Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent or trade personal information. We share it only where necessary and only with:
- Service providers who help us run the website and our practice, such as our website host, email provider and secure backup services. They may use the information only on our instructions;
- Courts, tribunals, counsel, experts and other parties where this is required to act on your matter and you have instructed us to do so;
- Regulators, law-enforcement or other public authorities where the law requires us to disclose information; and
- Professional advisers such as auditors or insurers, who are themselves bound by confidentiality.
09 Transfers outside Bangladesh
Some of our service providers, such as our hosting, email and font providers, may store or process information on servers located outside Bangladesh. Where this happens, we choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure your information receives an appropriate level of protection.
10 How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose for which it was collected:
- Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are generally deleted within twelve months, unless we need to keep a record of a conflict check;
- Client files are kept for the period required by law and by our professional obligations, after which they are securely destroyed; and
- Technical logs are kept for a short period for security purposes and then deleted automatically.
11 How we protect your information
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection for this website, access restricted to authorised personnel, regular secure backups and confidentiality obligations for everyone who works with us.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that is likely to affect you, we will let you know and take prompt steps to limit its impact.
12 Your rights
Subject to the law and to our professional obligations, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you and provide a copy;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete information we no longer have a valid reason to keep;
- stop or limit how we use your information; and
- withdraw any consent you have given.
To make a request, please write to us through our Contact page. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and in some cases, such as where records must be kept by law, we may not be able to delete everything you ask us to. We will always explain why.
13 Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of eighteen through this website. Matters involving children are discussed directly with a parent or guardian.
14 Links to other websites
Our website may contain links to other websites, such as courts, government portals or publications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we encourage you to read their privacy policies.
15 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the law, our practices or the services we offer. The current version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated. This version was last updated on 24 October 2026.
16 Contact us
